Ihsan Abdel Quddous was an Egyptian writer. He studied at the faulty of Al-Azhar, and also studied law. His literary career spans nearly 50 years and 600 novels, and is known to have written 49 novels that have been adapted to films, including "La Anam" (I Don't Sleep), "La Tasa'alny Man Ana" (Don't Ask Me Who Am I) and "Ana Horra" (I'm Free). As a journalist, he was involved in political activism, and was sentenced to prison several times as a result of criticizing the regime. He died in 1990.
