A Syrian actor, born on October 15, 1932 in Damascus to a prominent Levantine family. His passion for acting made him determined to become an actor despite his family's objection. He joined Abdul Latif Fathi's troupe. He continued to work with the touring theatrical company until the founding of television, which he joined and became one of its most famous directors. He also participated in several films, the most important of which are The Ladies Tailor (1969), When the Wives Are Absent (1975), The Borders (1984). Among his TV series are Salt and Sugar (1973), and Donia (1999). He married the Lebanese actress Margaret Chamoun. El Akkad passed away on December 1, 2001.
