An Egyptian director and the son of director Fahmy Abdul Hamid. He began his career as an assistant to his father in the series A Thousand and One Nights (1987, 1989). After that, Wael directed the movie A Star Is Born (1991), and a number of TV series. He co-directed the series Queen in Exile (2010) with Syrian director Mohamed Zuhair Ragab.
