An Egyptian director, who obtained a diploma at the High Cinema Institute, Directing Department in 1978, and also a postgraduate degree in film directing from California University of the Arts in Los Angeles in 1987. He began his career as an assistant director with Youssef Chahine and a director of documentary films, and his first film was Castle 83 (1983).
