A Syrian novelist, screenwriter, and poet. He studied at the University of Aleppo and obtained a bachelor's degree in law in 1988. His novel "In Praise of Hatred" attracted media attention around the world and the novel was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic...Read more Fiction in its first edition in 2008. His novel was translated into French, Italian, German, Norwegian, English, and Spanish. He was a member of the literary forum at the university. Among his important novels are “Death Is Hard Work” and “No Knives in the Kitchens of This City.” His TV credits include Relative Serenity (2009) and A Woman's Shadow (2007). He died on September 30, 2023.
