Therefore, he was...Read more surrounded since his childhood by musicians, artists and writers. Music was one of his first interests, so he started studying music at the age of thirteen. However, after six years of strenuous lessons, he abandoned music forever. He studied philosophy at the University of Marburg in Germany between 1910 and 1913. From there, he made a trip to Switzerland and Italy. Then he returned to Moscow and finished his university studies in 1913. Afterwards, he devoted his time to poetry. He published several poetry collections, such as "Twin in the Clouds" (1914) and "Themes and Variations" (1917). He influenced symbolists and futurists as he joined the Russian Futurist group Centrifuge. He gained fame after publishing his collection "My Sister, Life" (1922). He is known for the novel "Doctor Zhivago" (1957). He died of lung cancer on 30 May 1960, in Peredelkino, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. His credits include Doctor Zhivago (1965) and Hamlet (1964).
