Ratiba Al Hefny was born on 2 December 1931. She learned to play the piano since the age of five, as she grew up in an artistic family; her father was a composer and her grandmother was an opera singer in Germany. She studied music in Berlin and Munich. She held a number of...Read more positions, including the presidency of the Arab Music Festival, which she established, and the Deanship of the Arab Music Institute, as well as being the first president of the Egyptian Opera House. She received the State Appreciation Award in Arts in 2004. She also wrote some books, including "Easy Music Encyclopedia". She died in September 2013, at age 82.
