British writer and novelist born on October 5, 1930 in Epsom, United Kingdom. He was educated at King's College School, Wimbledon and Peterhouse, Cambridge, where he studied history. He worked for The Economist, BBC Television and the Sunday Times. He knew Ian Fleming's assistant from the Sunday Times and went on to write the first autobiography of Ian Fleming's life, and was published in 1966. He was nominated for the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Crime Novel. Among his work are: A Cry in the Dark and All the Money in the World.
