He spent a long time with the Old Vic in London as well as touring Europe and Egypt. He worked for BBC radio for 7 years, and he also worked in cinema since 1937, and he presented the movie Auld Lang Syne. He worked in cinema and theater until he was drafted during World War II, and after his discharge from the army, he continued his artistic career and also worked on television programs. He performed the roles of judges and doctors, and his most important television work is Dr. Finlay's Casebook (1962-1971), where he presented 191 episodes, and his last work was King & Castle (1988). He died at the age of 80.
