• A British presenter and writer, born in Tenterden, United Kingdom. He is considered one of the most famous television presenters in Britain and the only person to have interviewed...Read more the seven U.S. presidents in office between 1969 and 2008. He presented a weekly program bearing his name on BBC One. He interviewed former U.S. President Richard Nixon after the Watergate scandal. He also interviewed famous figures such as the Beatles, Prince Charles, Muhammad Ali, and others. He studied the English language at the University of Cambridge, and during his university studies, he was editor of the student paper, Varsity, and the literary magazine, Granta. He was secretary of the Footlights Drama Society as well. He appeared on Anglia Television. After graduating from university, he worked as a trainee at the Associated-Rediffusion. He wrote several books and produced a number of films. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1970 and was knighted in 1993. He died of a heart attack on August 31, 2013.
