In an emergency meeting between the three unions "Acting, Music and Filmmaking" at the Actors Union headquarters in Al Nahry Club, it was decided to withdraw credibility from Mamdouh Al Llithy as President for the General Union of the Artists Unions. The decision also includes not recognizing his legitimacy as president and to act in his position till the re-elections will be the three elected deputies of the three unions. After the 25 Jan revolution, the members of the unions were re-elected in a clearing phase of the previous regime followers, and according to the Bylaws of the Union, the president should be elected from the General Assembly which consists of the three unions board members. However, Al Llithy has taken this position after Al Sayyid Rady passed away who was elected by the former board. Therefore, this presidency has fallen with the previous regime. The emergency meeting consisted of all members of the three unions except Eman Al Bahar Darwish-Head of Musicians Union- who was not able to attend for personal reasons and empowered the general secretary of the union to attend on his behalf. Ashraf Abd El Ghafour – Head of Actors Union- and Mosed Fodah – Head of Filmamkers Union- attended whereas Mamdouh Al Llithy was not invited. Next to all committee members of the three unions; Mamdouh Al Seraity, Mohamed Abu Dawood, Ahmed Ramadan and Khaled Bayoumy also attended. After the meeting, a statement of the above decision was released and they have also stated that the elections for the president positions will start soon and it is open for everyone including Mamdouh Al Llithy himself. They added that this decision is not personal against him but it is a matter of law and principle.
