This past Friday evening, the veteran presenter Tarek Habib passed away at 77, after a 50-year long career in television. His funeral took place yesterday at Masjid Rabea el Adaweya in Nasser City.

He was born in 1936, and began to work in Egyptian television at the start of the seventies. Throughout his long career, he hosted a number of programs that offered a range of insights into political, intellectual, artistic and everyday life in Egypt. His most memorable work was done on the programs "Ahlan wa Sahlan" and "Autograph."
In the video below, Habib talks to another legend, Abdel Halim Hafez, in some very old, black-and-white footage.
