Following the popular revolution in 1919, “Madame Loretta” became one of the earliest films produced and screened in Egypt. The film, shot by cinematographer Alvise Orfanelli and produced by Leonard Laricci, featured the well-known comedy actor Fouad el Gazayerli and other members of his theatre troupe. The film is based on a comedic play by the same name which Gazayerli’s troupe had previously performed on the stage.
