In a flashback, Saqr rejects his brother Sadiq's decision to relinquish the mayoralty, so he seizes it instead of him. In the present, Saqr speeds up the wedding of Houria and Marwan.

El Husseini tells Houria that he is her brother, after which Saqr orders Hamza to arrest El Husseini, who falls ill and is taken to the hospital.

Houria refuses to marry Marwan after her brother gets locked up by Saqr, who is forced to call off the wedding, whereupon El Husseini escapes from the hospital with Marwan's help.

El Husseini hides with Rashad, after which the former travels to Cairo in search of Marwan, whom he returns with, whereupon Saqr orders their arrest.

Marwan is shot while defending El Husseini, who donates blood for him after being taken to the hospital. Saqr orders Hamza to stay away from Watania.

Marwan's condition improves. Saqr objects to Saleh and Rashad’s selling their land. Houria tries to unravel the mystery of the murder of her father, Sadiq.

Saqr objects to the wish of his second wife, Doria, to have children, and orders his men to prevent Houria from traveling to her mother's family to get to the bottom of the mystery of her father's murder.

Houria tries to convince El Husseini to claim their shares of the land from Saqr, while Rashad gives Houria a letter proving the innocence of her mother's siblings from Sadiq's murder.

The village sheikh and Hamza refuse to tell Houria the identity of her father's killer, whereupon she gathers the people and questions Saqr's right to the mayoralty, stating that El Husseini is the rightful mayor.

As El Husseini finds evidence that Saqr murdered Sadiq, Saqr orders the guards to arrest Houria and El Husseini, while failing to obtain the documents that incriminate him in Sadiq's murder.

When El Husseini's condition deteriorates after Saqr refuses to let him get treatment, Azab intervenes to save the former’s life, whereupon Saqr's land is set on fire, and El Husseini escapes.

As the fire spreads and the houses are set ablaze, Marwan's mother dies in the fire. Houria is interrogated by the prosecution, where she’s accused of causing the fire, and she confesses to it.

Hamza kills Watania to hide the truth of what happened on the night of the fire. El Husseini disappears, while Saqr hires several lawyers to prove Houria’s innocence.

Azazi escapes after shooting Hamza. Saqr returns to El Halwaniyah village. The guards chase El Husseini.

The people give Saqr a respite to leave El Halwaniyah village, but he refuses and threatens them with death, after which he divorces Badriya. The people attack Saqr after finding out the truth about him, whereupon he gets shot and dies.
