The immigrants return to Mecca believing that its people had converted to Islam.

Abdullah ibn Suhayl succeeds in escaping with the polytheists to the Muslims. The Battle of Badr takes place in which Utbah, Abu Jahl and Umayya are killed, and the Muslims are victorious.

The plague of Amwas spreads in the Levant and kills Suhayl ibn Amr and the governor of the Levant Abu Ubaida ibn Al-Jarrah. Amr ibn al-As begins the conquest of Egypt, which ends with the conquest of Alexandria, then Khalid ibn al-Walid dies.

Umar is deeply saddened by the death of Khalid. Abu Lu'lu'a plans to kill Umar and he stabs him while he leads the people in Fajr prayer. Prior to his death, Umar delegates six men as caliph candidates.
