Gaber robs an apartment and escapes to the neighborhood where he lives with his mother and brother. His mother tries to dissuade him from his criminal acts and persuade him to work with her on the food truck. Meanwhile, dancer Layali refuses the gifts of a regular at the bar.
Nassar tries to get close to Gharam who quarrels with her unemployed stepfather. Gaber and Saied are imprisoned. When Gaber's sister mourns what has become of him, her mother urges her to forget about him. Things get worse when chief Atwa threatens to evict Gaber's mother.
Gaber is sentenced to three years in prison on burglary charges. Atwa takes advantage of Gaber's imprisonment to threaten and assault his family, but Hanafi, Gaber's friend, stands up to his tyranny.
At the prison, Gaber learns of Atwa's threats and vows revenge. He shares his plans with Saied, his cellmate. As the two keep getting in fights with the other inmates, the prison warden sends them to solitary confinement
Gharam utilizes the authority of the nightclub owner to get both Gaber and Saied out of prison in exchange for their service. Gaber heads to his neighborhood just in time for his sister's marriage to Atwa, and he is all the more hell-bent on revenge.
Gharam and her mother visit Nassar, the nightclub owner, to ask him for more money as per their agreement with Afifi. They also ask for better care for both of them and an independent apartment to reside in.
In celebration of Gaber and Saied's release, Nassar invites them for a party at the nightclub. Gaber meets with Gharam, and the nightclub owner asks the two men to work for him.
When a quarrel ensues between Nassar and Riad as the latter insults Gharam saying she is a mere prostitute, Gaber defends Nassar, urging Riad and his men to leave the place.
Nassar devises a plan to rob the warehouse of the Ministry of Agriculture, but the plan stirs discord between the men as Saied and Gaber affirm that it is an easy task, while Shoman thinks it will lead to their doom. Nassar, however, approves the plan and asks his men to get ready.
Gaber gets acquainted with officer Awni and asks for his help with the plot they have devised. Awni accepts.
The mission targeting the warehouse is a success as the men blow it up. However, they suffer a minor setback when an officer shoots Hanafi in the leg before they flee.
Nassar celebrates his wife Gharam's birthday, and Gaber presents her with a doll, which encourages Nassar to propose that they have a baby. Gharam asks Nassar for a huge sum of money for her family, and Nassar generously obliges.
Shalata's mother (Um Shalata) reports Gaber's mother for selling contaminated food. Gaber's mother is arrested, but with Nassar's help, she gets released.
Gaber's mother urges him to forgive Shalata and his mother. At Amira's instigation, Jamaico hits Shoman with his car, urging Nassar and Gaber to carry out the mission and travel themselves.
Gaber travels to London with Nassar, Gharam, and the doctor. After a night-out, Nassar gets wasted and Gaber takes advantage and asks Gharam to go to the nightclub with him. On the way back, he confesses his love for her.
Nassar and Gaber meet Shamir who suggests that they expand their antiquities trade and have an inside-assistant in Egypt.
Shamir asks to meet Gaber alone and makes him an offer that Gaber rejects as he pledges loyalty to Nassar. Saied confesses his love for Ashgan.
Gaber returns to Egypt to discover that his mother has been hospitalized. Nassar gets upset with Gaber's lack of commitment and warns him against Shamir. Gaber, however, starts working for Shamir. Afifi threatens to expose Gharam's relationship with Gaber.
Gharam asks Nassar to find her stepfather a job. Nassar asks Awni to talk Gaber into working with him again. Nassar's first wife meets Gharam and threatens her. Sally tells Shamir that Nassar has rejected his offer.
Shoman hires Afifi to track down Gaber and decides to make use of his relationship with Gharam. Shamir recruits Gaber to steal a precious painting from the Modert Art Gallery.
When Nassar learns of his wife's betrayal, he has her locked up in a warehouse with her servant, Safiya. When the two women try to escape, Safiya is shot dead. Gaber's mission at the Modern Art Gallery is a success.
Gaber delivers the painting to Shamir who gives him the heroin in return. Nassar gives orders to his guards to torture Gharam who refuses to give away any information about Gaber.
Gaber and Hanafi abduct Afifi to learn where Gharam is, and they manage to find and free her. Gaber's mother gets back on her feet and goes home.
Gaber assigns Saied to sell the heroin, which enrages Nassar who vows revenge on Gaber for freeing Gharam and distributing the heroin without his permission. Afifi tries to find where Gharam is.
Nassar and Riad agree to work together to take revenge on Gaber. Sabah tries to stir discord between Gaber and Gharam. Saied asks for Ashgan's hand in marriage, and her mother approves.
When Gaber learns that information about the shipment got out, he consults Dr. Sally for help. Ashgan falsely claims that she and Gaber will get married to make Gharam jealous. Nassar's wife quarrels with him over his relationship with Sally.
Nassar tries to take Gaber out of the drug-dealing business. Sally throws a party that all the distributors attend, including Nassar and Riad who are shocked when they learn that Gaber has become the lord of the bussiness. Gaber's mother approves of his marriage to Gharam.
Nassar and Riad are enraged when Gaber gets the lion's share of the business and becomes Shamir's representative in Egypt. Gaber moves into a new villa with his family and refuses to wed his sister to Saied.
Gharam reprimands Gaber for his stance on his sister's marriage to Saied and tells him he is becoming as tyrannical as Nassar. Gaber plans for a new deal with Dr. Sally, while Riad and Nassar remain hell-bent on revenge.
Gaber shoots Saied, but he miraculously survives. Gaber's mother passes away and Riad and Nassar offer their condolences. Hanafi kills Sabah and commits suicide. Gaber eventually commits suicide, for his life has been damaged beyond repair.
