In 2001, the now aged Widad lives in New York and is preparing to celebrate her husband's birthday, and in a flashback, the events go back to the year 1947 in Aleppo.

Widad's mother suffers from persecution from the residents of the neighborhood because she is Jewish, while Fuad plans to emigrate to the lands seized by Israel, and with a Zionist group, he plots strikes against the Jews to scare them and make them emigrate to Israel.

The Zionist Organization of America tries to recruit Widad and deceives her by staging a party in her honor, but she becomes suspicious of the matter. Widad's children come to eat with her at home.

Members of the Zionist Organization insult Widad and accuse her of being a Jew-hater. In the past, Abu Mahmoud (Mahmoud's father) decides to propose to Layla.

After being divorced for not having children, Rabia moves to a new house, starts getting acquainted with the neighbors, and forms a friendship with Widad. Abu Mahmoud goes to ask for Layla's hand.

The Brooklyn Jewish Association issues a tribute invitation and fabricates facts about Widad, but she steps up on the stage and denies everything that has been said about her, which results in violent reactions.

In the past, Widad apologizes to the cake vendor whom she loves after mocking his poverty in a moment of anger. Abu Mahmoud's children are angry at his new marriage, but they soon change their rejecting stance.

In the past, Abu Mahmoud marries Layla with the consent of his children, while in the present, Widad is forced to postpone her trip to Syria due to an ongoing murder investigation.

As Mahmoud indulges in drinking and neglects his work, his father warns him against repeating this action and tries to find out what changed his behavior to this extent; meanwhile, Mahmoud is seduced by Layla.

The Zionist Organization tries to blackmail Widad using the murder, whose perpetrator is being hunted, and it turns out that the murdered committed crimes against the Palestinians.

In the past, the Zionist group in the neighborhood plans to rob Abu Ishaq's shop with the help of his nephew, and Mahmoud happens to pass by during the robbery.

The police investigate the incident of breaking into Abu Ishaq's shop. Mahmoud tries to get closer to God after being saved by a sheikh in the street.

Abu Ishaq suspects that his nephew is behind the break-in at his shop, but he tries to prevent the matter from being brought before court.

Abu Mahmoud's wife, Layla, rages as his grandson goes into her room to steal her heirloom ring, whereupon Abu Mahmoud gets confused about what is happening in his house and tries to clear the air.

As Raafat, who's known as Abu Ahmed, announces to Rabia's brother that he is marrying her, the brother gets angry, but Raafat threatens him with the drugs in his possession, so he yields and agrees to the marriage.

Abu Ishaq tries to find a way to get his nephew out of prison. Mahmoud learns from his sheikh about the ideas of Abul A'la Maududi.

When Fuad returns, Widad asks him about his affiliation with the Zionist Organization. Abu Mahmoud's daughter tries to find a new wife for her father.

As Abu Mahmoud is forced to divorce Layla, his friend helps introduce him to a new potential bride. Widad is defamed by major American newspapers.

As Mahmoud begins giving sermons in the mosque, he calls for jihad in Palestine. Widad is wanted by the authorities for interrogation about the murder.

Abu Mahmoud rejects Abu Ahmed's efforts to get him to remarry, while his daughter also tries to persuade him to do the same, whereas Abu Mahmoud complains about Mahmoud's behavior with his sheikh.

Fuad tries to find out where Widad is going, as she secretly meets her lover, the cake vendor, while Layla tries to meet Mahmoud, but he refuses.

Abu Ahmed decides to ask for Zainab's hand, despite the big age gap between them. Widad tells Fuad that she doesn't want to immigrate to Israel.

Mahmoud calls on the worshippers at the mosque to participate in jihad in Palestine. Abu Ahmed's first wife discovers that he takes other wives every now and then.

Wafaa, Zainab's close friend, gets angry when she learns that her father wants to marry Zainab, so she confronts her aunt and then Zainab with what she knows, but eventually, she comes around and the marriage takes place.

Rabia gets angry as Abu Ahmed marries Zainab. Everyone tries to oppose the attempts of the Zionist movement to declare the establishment of the State of Israel, while Abu Ahmed tries to reassure Abu Ishaq and his family about their lives.

Widad feels pangs of conscience over her husband Fuad's involvement in the activities of the Zionist group, whereas Fuad learns that Widad's been cheating on him with the cake vendor whom she loves, and who decides to volunteer in the Liberation Army in Palestine.

Zainab and Rabia quarrel over Abu Ahmed. Widad visits Ali, the son of the cake vendor, after his death in the war.

As Zainab gives birth to a girl and calls her Orouba, Rabia apologizes for what she's done to her, and they turn over a new leaf.

Fuad tries to force Widad to travel with him to Israel, or else he will harm the cake vendor's family, so she acquiesces to his wish, but she doesn't acclimatize to life there.

Widad turns to a nun for help, after which she decides to immigrate to the United States, where she marries an American man of Arab descent.
