As a man puts the head of a sheep on the door of the shop of Abu Issam (Issam's father), the neighborhood people try to find the culprit. Abu Zafer (Zafer's father) and Abu Hatem (Hatem's father) return to the neighborhood to try and be its new chief.

As Abu Zafer tries to be the chief, his wife pressures him to win the position as she continues to refuse to acknowledge his son, Qa'oud, whom he had with his other wife. Al-Wawy tries to burn the bakery of Abu Bashir (Bashir's father). Umm Issam (Issam's mother) tries to help the poor.

A French nurse, Nadia, arrives at the neighborhood, looking for Abu Issam's house. Nadia informs Umm Issam that her husband is still alive.

As Nadia tells Umm Issam about her husband, her daughter tries to console her. The neighborhood people agree to put Abu Zafer in charge of the neighborhood until Abu Issam returns. Al-Wawy terrorizes the neighborhood people, especially after he stabs Abdu.

Tension rises in the neighborhood as Al-Wawy continues acting suspiciously, especially with the lack of police presence in the neighborhood. Abu Zafer manages to secure his position as chief.

Abu Issam returns to the neighborhood just as Al-Wawy provokes the former's son, Issam, in an attempt to discredit Abu Issam if he ever returns to the neighborhood, leaving Abu Issam struggling to get back the leadership, especially as rumors abound about his marriage to the French nurse.

As the neighborhood people celebrate the return of Abu Issam, rumors continue to spread about his relationship with the French nurse, Nadia. The neighborhood also celebrates the birth of Jude.

Abu Issam surprises everyone when he refuses to take back the leadership. His refusal leaves Al-Wawy reelings as he announces his wish to become chief. Mo'taz arrests his friend for stealing, but the latter informs him that he is only stealing to feed the poor.

Al-Wawy tries to secure the chiefdom by spreading a sense of fear and insecurity in the neighborhood, attacking Abu Zafer's son and stealing his livestock. Abu Issam gets angry at Mo'taz for wanting to cut off the hand of a thief. Abu Issam decides to wed Nadia.

Abu Issam weds Nadia, who spies on him and reports to a French officer. Al-Wawy continues to try and become chief, a notion that Abu Issam vehemently opposes.

Nadia starts to spy on Abu Issam. Al-Wawy takes advantage of Abu Zafer's beating of Tanaka and tells Abu Al-Nar, who decides to restore Tanaka's rights. Abu Zafer clashes with Abu Al-Nar.

Abu Zafer manages to reach an accord with Abu Al-Nar and Tanaka. Umm Bashir (Bashir's mother) starts to prepare for her son's wedding to Abu Zafer's daughter, which makes Umm Issam angry. Abu Issam suspects that he is being watched.

As Nadia pulls out all the stops to interact with everyone to spy on them, she eavesdrops on Abu Issam and listens to his opinion on the French occupation. The French besiege the neighborhood and search all of its occupants.

Abu Issam is upset when he discovers that Nadia has been visiting the neighborhood people, but she convinces him that it's because she feels lonely at home. Umm Issam grows suspicious when she learns that Nadia is staying in the neighborhood. Abu Jawdat (Jawdat's father) asks Abu Zafer to become chief.

Abu Zafer tries to settle matters between Abu Issam and Tanaka. Nadia manages to ingratiate herself to the family of Umm Hatem (Hatem's mother) after getting invited to Abdu's wedding. As Nadia tries to search the house to get information about the rebels, the neighborhood women try to learn more about her.

The French governor asks Nadia to wrap up her mission as quickly as possible and learn the identities of the rebels who oppose the French campaign. Umm Bashir asks her son to wed Abu Zafer's daughter, especially as his wife, Abu Issam's daughter, hasn't given him any children.

Umm Bashir continues to pressure her son to wed Abu Zafer's daughter. As Nadia discovers that she is pregnant, the French governor grows suspicious of her as he notes her love for her husband. Sa'eid divorces his wife Bouran.

Abu Zafer reconciles Bouran and Sa'eid, which makes Abu Hatem angry as he thinks Abu Zafer will exploit the situation to be chief. The French governor tells Abu Jawdat to arrest Mo'taz and the rest of the rebels. Tanaka learns that Abu Issam has wed Nadia.

A pardon is issued for some of the rebels, including Abu Issam's son, Mo'taz. The French governor asks Nadia to move in with Abu Issam's family to get more information about the rebels.

Tanaka tells Abu Zafer about Abu Issam's marriage to Nadia, but Abu Zafer asks him to recheck to make sure it's true. As Nadia tells Abu Issam about her pregnancy, she keeps the news from the French governor, especially after he asked her to move in with Abu Issam's family.

Fayad drives a wedge between Mo'taz and Al-Wawy. Abu Al-Nar visits Abu Issam to complain about his son.

Tanaka comes clean to Abu Zafer about his plot to drive a wedge between him and Abu Issam. Sobhy passes away after the French governor has him tortured.

Umm Issam grows even more suspicious that her husband is involved with Nadia. Nadia tells Umm Issam that she is having an affair with Shawkat.

As the news about Abu Issam's marriage to the French nurse spreads, everyone grows angry. The men and women of the neighborhood hold a funeral for Chief Ibrahim.

As Abu Zafer plans to marry Bahiya off, his house gets robbed while he is away.

Nadia falls ill. The rebels plan to raid the police stations to free the prisoners from the clutches of the French.

The Sheikh convinces Sou'ad to stop pressuring Bashir to get married. Fayad attacks Bahgat and tries to kill him, but Bahgat ends up stabbing him.

The French governor discovers that Yousef Khoury is rallying people to demand a national charter and unity against the colonizers. The rebels clash with the French forces over the partition plans.

Hassan refuses to help Abu Jawdat identify the strangers who arrived at the neighborhood. Fahmy dies at home. Al-Wawy raids the neighborhood alongside the French soldiers.

As fighting breaks out in the neighborhood, Shawkat gets injured as a French officer gets killed by the rebels. The colonizers besiege the neighborhood and prevent any food from going in to force the rebels to surrender.
