Hayat works in a factory to support her family. Meanwhile, her sister has graduated high school and decides to throw a party with assistance from her friend Maryam. As for their father, he only cares about himself.

In a drunken stupor, Hayat's father destroys his neighbor's shop, leading Hayat to compensate the man. Meanwhile, Amin is saddened by his brother's request for his own share of their inheritance to fund his studies.

After Hayat loses some money, she accuses her father of stealing it, but her mother tells her that she is the one who took it to give it to her brother. Meanwhile, Amin tells his sister Aziza not to sell the house no matter what.

Maryam visits Hayat to complain about her boyfriend who does not give her enough attention. Meanwhile, Othman prepares to travel.

Hayat seeks help from the labor union after getting into a fight with her co-worker at the factory and after her manager flirted with her. Meanwhile, Hayat's mother discovers her ring has been stolen.

Hayat's mother falls ill so Hayat tries to shift her work schedule to take care of her. Hayat's father, on the other hand, asks for money to open his own business.

Hayat borrows money and gives it to her father while Maryam sets her up with Youssef. Meanwhile, Aziza gives Amin a piece of her gold jewelry to go propose to Hayat and give it to her.

Youssef goes to search for Hayat's house, which upsets Amin. Meanwhile, Hayat has a fight with Farida and reports her to the manager.

Due to Hayat's fight with Farida, she is fired from the factory. Therefore, she makes sweets at home and sells them, and Amin warns her against Youssef.

Hayat warns Karim from pursuing a career as a robber and Morad gets out of prison. Meanwhile, Maazouza makes a new ill-mannered friend.

Maryam tells Morad he needs to ask for her hand in marriage but he refuses. Meanwhile, Karim fails in his studies while Hayat works in a school.

Hayat gets fired from the school for selling sweets to the students. As for Morad, he mistreats his sisters, especially Maazouza.

Amin confesses his love to Hayat, and Hayat's father returns home even after his wife kicked him out. As for Maryam, she begs Morad to marry her and he declines again.

Amin asks Hayat's father for her hand in marriage and gives him money to convince her. Meanwhile, Maryam gets engaged to another man, which saddens Morad.

Amin meets Hayat and tells her he wants to marry her, and is devastated when she rejects him. Meanwhile, Morad goes to work as a security guard at a nightclub.

Aziza tries to set Amin up with a friend of hers. Meanwhile, Hayat gets a job at a shopping center, and when her father attempts to harass her at her workplace she puts a limit to his behavior.

Morad sees his sister working as a dancer at the night club, which angers him and he assaults her when she goes home. However, their mother defends her and kicks him out. Afterwards, Hayat tries to interfere to fix things between them.

Morad gets a job as a driver for Amin after Hayat recommends him, becoming a better person in his life and with his family.

Maryam tells her friend she is so attached to Morad and adamant he marries her because she got pregnant with his child. Meanwhile, Hayat's co-worker tries to get close to her.

Hayat is fired from her job because of her relationship with her co-worker, Hisham, who finds her a job at a clothes store.

Hayat is angry at Morad for ruining Maryam's life, and Hanan's face gets burned while cooking. Afterwards, Hisham confesses his feelings to Hayat, which she reciprocates.

Morad asks his father for money so he can marry Maryam, and Hayat suggests he sell their land to give Morad the money. Hayat and Hisham's relationship develops.

Maryam gets married, which devastates Morad, so he decides to marry Halima. Meanwhile, Amin proposes to Hanan.

Hanan is saddened to see Hayat and Amin together talking. Meanwhile, Maazouza is arrested but later rescued by Hayat and Hisham.

Hayat quits her job and advises her sister to pay more attention to her studies. Meanwhile, Hisham tells Amin he is planning to move to Canada.

Hayat works at Sanyea's hair salon, and rejects Hisham when he asks her to wait for him as he goes to Canada for a few years and then return to marry her. Meanwhile, Amin decides to marry Hanan.

Karim is arrested for leaking exams. Meanwhile, Morad sends a message to Maryam, whose husband hears it and divorces her. Additionally, Hayat's mother falls ill again.

Hayat hires a lawyer to defend Karim while her sister Maazouza steals money from their mother. As for Maryam, she returns to her father's house after her husband kicks her out.

Hayat's mother is hospitalized because she is devastated for her son Karim. Amin marries Hanan while Maryam's husband sends her their divorce papers.

Hayat confesses her feelings for Amin on the night of his wedding, and Karim is sentenced to prison while his mother is still in the hospital.
