Many quarrel with Ateej over the debts he owes them. Abu Hilal gets upset at his son for taking an interest in raising pigeons and abandoning fishing.

Moftah complains about Ateej's stinginess and not paying his debts, while his son wants to marry Abu Hilal's daughter Afari, so her father reprimands him.

Ateej disguises himself as his wife in order to avoid paying his debts to the village doctor, while Abu Hilal tries to convince him to work at sea.

Ateej’s sister, Modhi, arrives at his home and tries to get out of paying the driver. Idris tricks Ateej’s son and sells him a dog in place of a sheep.

As Ateej reprimands his son for buying a dog instead of a sheep, Modhi quarrels with Abu Hilal over his son’s partnering with Idris to con Ateej's son. Abu Hilal informs Abu Idris of opening a store and asks him to have Idris help him with sales.

Ateej agrees with the creditors to give them receipts as a guarantee; meanwhile, his sister Modhi's immoderation in cooking infuriates him due to his extreme stinginess.

Moftah tells Bakhit and Abu Hilal about what happened to his son at sea, and about his injury and illness, whereas the baker tells Abu Hilal to propose to Modhi.

Idris fools Ateej into thinking that the jinn stole his money, whereupon he takes it and gives everyone the money that Ateej owes and refuses to pay.

Ateej considers reporting Idris's stealing his money to the police, while Modhi says goodbye to him as she plans on traveling and returning home.

Idris’s father informs Bakhit and Moftah that he needs to return to his country, upon which Ateej offers to buy his shop. Ateej reproaches his wife Rummana for not working with her brother on any project.

Ateej's children quarrel with each other as they both want to marry Afari. Bakhit and Moftah agree to work with Ateej as Abu Matar stood as guarantor for him.

Hilal tells Afari that he loves Mohra. Moftah and Bakhit tell Abu Hilal that his shop got an electricity connection.

Abu Hilal is surprised when Ateej’s two sons ask him to marry Afari, so he rebukes them and quarrels with Ateej, who tells his wife that he wants to open a shop. As Bakhit tries to connect electricity at his café, he gets electrocuted.

Moftah refuses to sell to Rummana on credit. Hilal's uncle arrives at his home and loses his suitcase, after which it turns out that Obeid took it, thinking it was his.

Moftah returns the suitcase to Hilal’s uncle, to whom Ateej suggests to be partners in selling meat. Abu Hilal begins working in carpentry.

When Hilal buys a donkey, keeping it in the house, his father thinks it has run away from its owner, so he asks the busboy at the café to look for the owner, whereupon he sells it in the market.

Abu Hilal's sister sends him a letter informing him that her husband’s died, leaving a large estate behind, and when Ateej reads the letter and finds out about her visiting Abu Hilal, he tries to think of a way to control her and her money.

As Abu Hilal's house gets electricity, he buys a TV for his family, and he tries to convince Moftah that his son Obeid should see a doctor about his mental illness.

Abu Hilal tries to fix the TV transmission, so he falls and gets seriously injured. All the livestock in the business of Hilal’s uncle and Ateej die.

Ateej asks Abu Hilal to teach his children carpentry, and have them work with him. Abu Hilal tries to fix the TV, so it blows up in his face. Ateej talks Abu Matar into joining him in trading.

As Abu Matar tells his sister Rummana about his work with Ateej, she warns him, whereupon she rebukes Ateej for taking advantage of Abu Matar's niceness and seizing his money.

Ateej tries to persuade Abu Hilal to travel to his sister. Ateej’s sons force the busboy at the café to get engaged to Manunah. The Sudanese Abu Tanki comes to the village, where he claims he has the ability to cure all the sick.

As Abu Tanki convinces all the people of his ability to magically increase money, Ateej thinks about giving him his money to make it increase, while Bakhit also thinks about selling the café and giving him the money to get more.

As the people of the village give their money to Abu Tanki, he swindles them and runs away with it. Ateej asks Abu Hilal to marry his widowed sister.

Bakhit's sister drives a wedge between the wives of Ateej and Abu Hilal, whereupon the two quarrel, and everyone tries to reconcile them.

Ateej's children work in the confectionery store, but they fail and the shop owner hits them. As Abu Hilal's sister Subaiha arrives at his house, Ateej tries to make her acquaintance.

Ateej invites Abu Hilal and his family to his home to get to know his sister Subaiha. Umm Obeid rebukes Bakhit's sister for passing on people’s news and causing trouble.

Ateej’s son steals food from a wedding to serve to Abu Hilal and his family, while Abu Hilal disapproves of Ateej's engagement to Subaiha. An Indian merchant visits the village, thinking of opening a movie theater there.

When Ateej marries Subaiha, and Rummana stipulates that she stay in the same house as her, quarrels ensue between them.

The problems and bickering between Ateej’s two wives cause him to get sick and lose his mind. Everyone rejoices, as a movie theater opens in the village.
