A Lebanese writer and thinker, born in Lebanon into a poor family. He moved between Beirut and Cairo and worked as a journalist and director of the newspaper Al-Zaman in Cairo and director of the Egyptian magazine Al-Muqtataf. He established his printing press and published Al-Hilal magazine, through which he presented his literary works. He initially worked as his father's assistant in the restaurant he owned. The people who frequented his father’s restaurant, including journalists, intellectuals, and academics, motivated Zaydan's passion for science and knowledge, especially literature. He studied medicine for one year and then immigrated to Cairo. After arriving in Cairo, he changed his mind about studying medicine. He began working as an editor in the daily newspaper Al-Zaman, after which he was appointed a translator in the British Intelligence office in Cairo. He died on the evening of Tuesday, July 21, 1914.
